The HESED Solidarity Volunteering association was established in 2010 within the Parish of Lumellogno (Novara) to actively respond to the new forms of poverty and need collaborating with other associations and operating in harmony with the Social Services of the Municipality of Novara.
HESED is an Aramaic term with multiple meanings: Goodness, Loyalty, Mercy and Beauty. Since 2019 it has taken on its own connotation by becoming a Solidarity Association and adapting to the rules of ETS – Ente Terzo Settore – (Third sector organization).
The activities of the association consist of:
- provision of contributions for various payments (rents, utilities), school fee, payment of bus passes, books and various materials.
- free furnishing of apartments assigned by the Social Services of the Municipality of Novara to needy families, clearing of apartments with collection of used furniture, clothes and various furnishings.
- search for apartments and assistance in rental contracts with guarantees from the association.
- assistance and processing of bureaucratic procedures, filling out various forms and CV creation.
- Italian courses for foreigners: immigrants and Ukrainian refugees
- After school support
- Free psychological support
- Collecting expiring fresh food from supermarkets and delivery to the Charitable Distribution Centers.
